| 1 | Background information
- Garibaldi College has 1200 students aged between 11 – 18 years, and serves the areas of Forest Town and Clipstone.
Visitors often comment that there is a 'buzz' about the College. There is an energy and enthusiasm that abounds in all aspects of College life. This energy is apparent in the many different initiatives and projects that are always taking place. Indeed, the college has a philosophy that encourages everyone to step outside their 'comfort zone' and try out new ideas. We believe that this is the best way to move the college forward.
All students are encouraged to make the very best of the opportunities open to them. We aim high for everyone, as we believe that everyone has the potential to achieve.
The local community plays an important part in the life of Garibaldi College. Sports facilities are open for community use every evening and there is a drop-in centre for ICT training. The college believes that learning is a lifelong process and there are many opportunities for adults to return to learning both within the school day and beyond.
We are committed to our role in serving the wider community and we believe that the development of our specialist provision in Maths and Computing supports this commitment and enables us to enhance the mathematical, technical and vocational development of the wider community, the family of schools and partner organisations.
We are committed to the concept of developing an e-learning community using the technology and ethos of being a Maths and Computing College to reach as wide an audience as possible and to afford learning opportunities beyond the parameters of physical buildings and the constraints of a school day.
Perhaps the best way to get to know Garibaldi is to see it in action. I hope you will accept our invitation to visit us and see for yourself what we have to offer.
